A message for help - 5 kittens in need of a home
We were contacted by a person living near the cat cafe who was trying to find new homes for 5 kittens: 2 black kittens, a grey, and 2 silver tabbies, all female.
At the time we weren't able to cover the costs, due to bookings at a seasonal low, so we asked our followers to either inquire about adoption, visit us, or donate to fund adoption costs. We do not rely on a shelter to bear the costs and labour of medical care for us: We pay for everything ourselves, we rescue directly and we take the cats to and from the vets themselves.
The response was so kind and we found that by Friday evening, we had enough in donations to cover the adoption costs for one of the kittens, so on Friday this friendly little kitten came to join us!
Our new Furry Friend!
We could only take one cat in last week, and the owner advised that the tabby kittens and black kittens were more shy and might not enjoy cafe life, so this beauty came to us instead. You'll be able meet this friendly cat in a few weeks time. We are still thinking of a name for her, so for now we call her Fluffy! She's extremely sweet, social and loving and is already settling so well! For now she isn't allowed to meet guests or the other cats, as she's not vaccinated, dewormed etc. She also has fleas, so we're treating her for those and maintaining our usual careful quarantine procedures to keep cats and customers safe. Her first vaccine appointment is this Thursday! She's quite small and we're unsure of her exact age, so we'll wait to see what the vet says. Sign up to our eNewsletter to be notified of when she's out in the cafe, coming soon to a cat cafe near you!
The two Tabby Kittens have been rehomed
Meanwhile we've received lots of emails and interest for the others and we're glad to report that the two tabby kittens have found their home!
The black Kittens still need help!
Unfortunately their current owner is struggling to find a home for the two shy black kittens, so they are still in need of a new home! Please do email our cat care team at adoptions@ladydinahs.co.uk if you might be able to help out these beautiful little panthers.
A surprise addition!
To our delight, donations kept coming and as we communicated more with the owner, it was revealed that there were more than 5 kittens that needed a home. There was also an older, possible half-sister of Fluffy's which needed rehoming.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone, who supports us we were able to cover the costs of another rescue cat, so Fluffy's sister arrived at the London Cat Cafe yesterday!
She is much more shy, than her sister and spent the day mostly in her box. She is extremely sweet and gentle and allowed us a few strokes, after we gave her some treats, but she would definitely need some extra time, compared to her sister! She is also being treated for fleas and will be going to the vets with Fluffy on Thursday! Just like her sister, she would stay in our cat room, until she is completely ready to be introduced to the rest of the clowder on the cat café floor, until then we'll post regular updates on them!
It's only been a few days, but we adore them both already! They're lovely cats and we are excited to introduce you when they're ready.
Thank you so much
We couldn't be more grateful for the support of our community when it comes to taking in these animals. We couldn't do it without you and we're so pleased we've been able to help so far - and we're continuing to help with the rehoming effort for the 2 black kittens as well.
We ask everyone following this story to suspend any judgement on the owner for the scenario that led to these kittens needing homes. Everyone is going through their own challenges. We are glad we're able to be part of the solution.
Whether you donate, choose to join us for tea with cats (or coffee with cats!), buy one of our gifts for cat lovers from our online store, or pick up a cat cafe gift voucher: every penny you spend with us helps us to do more direct rescue and rehoming work. It also helps us to look after the cats already in our care and pay our team a liveable wage to look after them properly.
