Every year we offer a Level 2 Animal Management Apprenticeship and this role doesn't have any specific experience requirements. Our Apprenticeship scheme is our way of helping inexperienced workers make a break into the work force.

We are currently hiring for our next apprentice!

We're looking for someone with great interpersonal skills who loves cats and is interested in being trained for a Level 2 Animal Care Apprenticeship. Being a cat carer is arguably the most coveted job at Lady Dinah's as it requires plenty of time spent with our beloved rescue moggies, but there's a lot more to the role than cuddling and playing with cats!
In addition to assisting with the general care of our clowder, the person who fills this position will be expected to interact with our guests, providing a high standard of service to ensure that customers are satisfied and operations run smoothly. Although the happiness of our patrons is important to us, a cat carer's job is ultimately to safeguard the well-being of our feline residents; whoever is employed as our apprentice will need to ensure that everyone who visits the café follows the rules we've established to protect our cats.
We have a close-knit team of kindly cat lovers working at the Emporium, and we aim to nurture our apprentices so that they grow in confidence and acquire a variety of new skills. The proof is in the pudding: one of our former apprentices is now our Senior Cat Carer, while another is now a supervisor! Once our apprentices have earned their Level 2 qualification, they are often invited to stay with us and learn more.
The Basics:
  • The deadline for applications is the 6th of July 2021.
  • Possible start date: 15th of July 2021.
  • Full-time hours up to 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Applicants *must* be available to work on Wednesdays and be open to varied working hours between 7.30am and 10.30pm.
  • 20% of the working week (every Wednesday) is dedicated to training activities and study time.
  • Expected duration of course: 16 months.
  • Wage: We pay 17% more than the minimum apprenticeship wage, which rounds it up to £5 per hour.
  • No previous qualifications required. Persons who already hold a Level 2 or higher in an area related to animal care will not be eligible.
  • Last but not least: cats. There'll be lots of 'em! It's wonderful and rewarding, but looking after a small colony of these gorgeous creatures is hard work.
