Ingredients:
1 can of tuna (in brine or water)
1 cup of wholemeal flour
1 tablespoon of good quality, dried catnip
1 egg
The “technical” stuff:
Set the oven to 180°C or gas mark 4
Bake for 10-15 minutes
This recipe makes about 70-80 treats
Method:
1) Put everything in a food processor and turn it on! Drain the tuna a bit beforehand but it’s good to retain some moisture.
If you don’t have a food processor, blending everything in a mixing bowl using electric beaters will have the desired result but might take longer! The consistency may not be as fine if you have to mix everything manually, but perhaps this can count as your at-home workout for the day!
2) Take the “dough” and roll it into small balls. If you’re a stickler for uniformity, you could weigh each piece of dough before rolling it so that they each weigh 5 grams, for instance, but that would be a laborious process. I used a teaspoon to measure mine so that they’d all be approximately the same size. My cat is a tiny girl, so I only used about a quarter of the teaspoon.
3) Place your treat balls on a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Flatten them slightly using a spoon or your hands.
4) Bake at 180°C for 10 to 15 minutes.
5) Once these are ready, be sure to let them cool before you feed them to your feline friend!
