Our First Cat Cafe Competition!

Since we launched our crowdfunding campaign, we’ve had a lot of people telling us stories and sharing photos of their cats. And we love it! We REALLY do. Despite the inexhaustible supply of cats on the internet, we can *never* get enough.

So we thought: why not make this into a bigger thing? And if we’re going to do that, why not share these stories with everyone? And why not launch our first ever Cat Cafe Competition?

So here we present to you the very first Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium Short Story competition. We’d like you, the cat-loving crew of Emporiates, to unleash all your fondness for felines, and your creativity, and share your stories with us.

While the competition runs, we’ll be sharing some of our stories with you as well! Winners will be announced on February 11 2013.

What should you write about?

• Tell us a story about cats
• It needs to be less than 2000 words

A copy of Tom Cox’s Talk to the Tail: Adventures in Cat Ownership and Beyond and two ‘Pats Tea, Cake!’ vouchers to redeem at the café

Second place

1 x Pats, Tea, Cake voucher

Third place

1 x Pop in for a Pat voucher

If you’re not able to visit the cafe to redeem your ‘Pats, Tea, Cake’ vouchers, you can swap for a ‘toys for everyone’ perk (Teacup or cat toy) instead.

If you take third place and are unable to Pop in for a Pat, we will think of something else for you

Rules and things

• Please only enter if you are 13 years old and above
• We may want to host your story on our blog. By entering the competition, you are aware of this intention, although we will ask before publishing anyone’s stories online.
• Your story must be received by info@ladydinahs.co.uk by Thursday 31 January, 2013 at 11:59 PM (Greenwich Mean Time)
• Stories must be written in English
• Entries must be the work of the entrant and must not have been published or accepted for publication elsewhere
• The competition is international and welcomes non-UK entrants
• Copyright remains with the author
• The decision of the judge is final, and no correspondence will be entered into

How to Enter

• Write your story and email it to info@ladydinahs.co.uk as a .doc, docx, rtf, pdf or odt file
• You can also choose to share the story to us using Google Docs/Google Drive
• Your story must be received by info@ladydinahs.co.uk by Thursday 31 January, 2013 at 11:59 PM (Greenwich Mean Time)

Awards

• A shortlist of 20 stories will be determined by three of the book lovers behind Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium (Lauren, Siobhan and John)
• The top 6 will be determined by an online vote from our followers, through our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LadyDinahsCatEmporium)
• Shortlisted entries will be sent to acclaimed author of ‘500 Things I learned from my Cat’ and ‘Talk to the Tail,’ Tom Cox. Tom will determine the top 3 stories!
