Eating and Drinking in a Cat Cafe

Frequently we’re asked: are you really ok to serve food and drink in a room full of cats?
The short answer is: yes!
The longer answer: The Food Standards Agency permits animals in a cafe, but legislates that ‘reasonable precaution’ must be taken (and demonstrable) to prevent domestic animals from accessing food preparation areas.
This is the legislation we’re talking about.
There have been a few articles that have misunderstood our video a little. Approval for food and animal licensing can only be achieved once we secure a premises. It’s also not a once-only process: we will conduct and comply with ongoing inspection, constantly. We have indeed confirmed that opening and operating a Cat Cafe business in the UK will not violate any existing health regulations and we’re all clear, on that front, to proceed to the funding stage.
When we have a premises, we must contact our local Environmental Health Officer to ensure that you, our cats, and our staff are sharing a wonderful experience in a safe and hygienic environment.

Loving this idea & seriously considering a donation.

Can you give me an idea of where in East London you hope to locate?

    Thanks & good luck!

Thanks very much! We’re hoping to be located around Old Street somewhere, or in Shoreditch.

Hope to see you there :)
